Fingersoft Launches Hill Climb Racing 3 Soft Launch: Real-Time Multiplayer Arrives with 3D Chaos

Finnish developer Fingersoft has officially launched the open beta (soft launch) for the highly anticipated sequel, Hill Climb Racing 3 (HCR3). Marking a significant evolution for the physics-based racing series, the new title introduces real-time online multiplayer for the first time, along with a jump to 3D visuals and more chaotic action.

The soft launch began on October 29, 2025, and is currently available on Google Play in select regions.

Soft Launch Regions and Platform

The initial open beta is targeted at a small group of markets to gather performance data and player feedback before a wider global rollout.

  • Regions: United Kingdom (UK), Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
  • Platform: Currently available only on Google Play (Android).

This regional approach allows Fingersoft to test the server stability and core gameplay loop of the new real-time multiplayer feature in a controlled environment, a crucial step for a game that has now added direct competition to its DNA.

Key New Features in Hill Climb Racing 3

HCR3 retains the core “gas and brake, balance the vehicle” physics that made its predecessors, Hill Climb Racing and Hill Climb Racing 2, global hits (with over 2.5 billion combined downloads). However, it introduces several major innovations to modernize the franchise:

  1. Real-Time PvP Racing: The most significant addition, allowing players to compete head-to-head against opponents from around the world in live races.
  2. 3D Visuals: A major graphical overhaul, moving the iconic physics-based action into a modern 3D environment.
  3. Action-Packed Gadgets: Players can now directly interfere with their rivals using various “gadgets” and power-ups, introducing a layer of combat and chaos to the racing. Examples include shooting chickens or activating EMPs to disrupt opponents.
  4. New Characters: The series’ main star, Bill Newton, is back, but he is joined by new characters, each with unique abilities that add a strategic element to races.

Daniel Rantala, Fingersoft’s Chief Growth Officer, noted that the addition of real-time multiplayer opens up a “lot of different options” and allows the team to “add more chaos by allowing the players to directly interact with each other.”

What Happens Next?

Fingersoft’s goal is to use the Open Beta phase to meticulously test, balance, and refine the game based on community input. As is typical in a soft launch phase, a global release date has not been announced. The full launch will only occur once the development team is satisfied that the game is polished, well-balanced, and ready for a mass audience.
