As you venture deeper into the Candy Kingdom in Candy Crush Saga, you’ll encounter an increasing variety of obstacles and blockers designed to challenge your puzzle-solving skills. These elements prevent easy matches, hide objectives, or simply make the board more difficult to clear. Understanding how each obstacle behaves and the most effective strategies to remove or bypass them is crucial for progressing through the game’s hundreds of levels.
Clearing the Path: Dealing with Obstacles
Break through the barriers to achieve your objectives.
- Jelly:
- Description: Candies sit on top of jelly.
- Removal: Make a match over the jelly to clear it. Double jelly requires two matches.
- Objective: Many levels require you to clear all jelly on the board.
- Meringue:
- Description: Brown, multi-layered blocks.
- Removal: Hit them with matches or special candy explosions. Each hit removes a layer.
- Strategy: Prioritize clearing meringue, especially if they block access to important areas or objectives.
- Licorice Swirls:
- Description: Dark, swirly candies.
- Removal: Can be cleared by matching them, but they block the effect of Striped Candies (the stripe stops at the swirl).
- Strategy: Treat them as single-hit blockers. Be mindful of their ability to absorb Striped Candy effects.
- Chocolate:
- Description: Spreads across the board if not cleared.
- Removal: Hit any chocolate square with a match or special candy effect.
- Strategy: Prioritize clearing chocolate, as it can quickly overrun the board and block matches. If you don’t clear any chocolate on a move, it will spread.
- Bomb Candies:
- Description: Candies with a number countdown.
- Removal: Clear them by matching them or with special candy effects before the countdown reaches zero.
- Consequence: If a bomb candy’s countdown reaches zero, you immediately fail the level. These are top priority!
- Locked Candies (Chains):
- Description: Candies or blockers encased in chains.
- Removal: Make a match with the locked candy, or hit the chained blocker with a special candy effect.
- Candy Bombs (Fixed): Different from counting bomb candies. These explode if not cleared in a certain number of moves.
Mastering how to effectively deal with these obstacles and blockers is a cornerstone of strategic play in Candy Crush Saga.
