In a significant update for the global gaming community, developer Treyarch has officially announced an extension for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Open Beta. Originally scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the highly-anticipated playtest will now continue for an additional day, with the new end time set for 9:00 AM PT on Thursday, October 9, 2025. This extension offers players crucial extra hours to experience the game’s core mechanics, test the new Omnimovement system, and contribute vital feedback ahead of the game’s launch.
The decision to extend the beta comes directly in response to the massive volume of player feedback and requests for more time with the game, particularly praising the new ‘Open Moshpit’ playlists which feature classic matchmaking. The extended period will also keep the Double XP and Double Weapon XP bonuses active, allowing the dedicated player base to push further toward the newly increased maximum rank of Level 30 and unlock more of the available gear and Beta Rewards, including the exclusive “Beta Legend” Weapon Blueprint.
Critical Updates and Player Feedback Integration During the Beta Period
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta has been an intensive testing ground for Treyarch’s development team. The studio has been exceptionally responsive, issuing multiple patch notes and updates to address player concerns in near real-time. Key adjustments have centered around core gameplay elements, demonstrating a commitment to a refined final product.
- Time-to-Kill (TTK) Adjustments: Following initial feedback that the TTK felt slightly faster than desired, Treyarch confirmed they are actively evaluating and planning a weapon balance pass. This change aims to ensure all 30 launch weapons are competitive and balanced within their intended roles. This focus on weapon balance is a critical sign for competitive FPS players.
- Door Mechanics Review: A notable point of community discussion revolved around the automatic doors on certain multiplayer maps. While only five of the sixteen launch 6v6 maps feature automatic doors, Treyarch responded swiftly by implementing changes during the beta, such as forcing specific doors to remain open and increasing the distance required for automatic opening. They are even considering a reduction in the number of automatic doors across the map portfolio for the full release.
- Progression Boosts: To facilitate testing of higher-level content, the maximum level cap was raised from 20 to 30, with 2XP and 2X Weapon XP bonuses extended throughout the entire beta period.
These rapid iterations underscore the value of the beta phase, positioning the community as active participants in the game’s final polishing process. The proactive communication from Activision Publishing and Treyarch signals a strong focus on game stability and player satisfaction, a highly positive indicator for the full release.
Zombies Survival Mode Also Receives Extension
For the first time in a Call of Duty beta, the classic Round-Based Zombies Survival mode was included, set on the map “Vandorn Farm.” The popularity of this mode has also led to an extension, with the Zombies Survival experience now running concurrently with the multiplayer beta until Thursday, October 9th. This gives players more time to experiment with the new features of the mode, including the new GobbleGums—such as ‘Round Off’ and ‘Gift Card’—and new equipment like the LT53 Kazimir. The extended Zombies period is a boon for fans of the co-op experience, allowing for deeper engagement with the new systems and a chance to unlock more beta-exclusive rewards.
What’s Next for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7?
With the beta concluding, the development cycle will shift entirely toward the final release build. The official launch date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 remains set for November 14, 2025, across all major platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Notably, the title will also be a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, a monumental shift in the franchise’s distribution strategy that is driving immense interest and high pre-order rates.
The development team’s stated goal following the beta is to fully integrate the collected data and feedback into the game. This focus on the launch version will include:
- Finalizing the Weapon Prestige system, which returns to the Black Ops series.
- Polishing the massive roster of Mastery Camos, including the new Campaign-specific camouflage journey.
- Preparing for the integration of Black Ops 7 content into Call of Duty: Warzone during its “biggest Season 1 ever.”
The beta extension is a clear win for players, offering not just an additional day of high-value gameplay, but a transparent view into the developers’ commitment to a polished, community-driven launch experience. Players are encouraged to maximize their final hours in the beta, aiming for the maximum rewards and providing any remaining feedback on the official channels.
